The Pune-based technology services company Persistent Systems has announced to add about 2000 freshers and an undisclosed number of lateral entries to its team, in the ongoing financial year 2021-2022.

With practically everything digitizing at a rapid rate, accelerated after the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for high skill talent in the IT and software sectors are on a meteoric ride too.

This is giving rise to an increased attrition rate, recorded in multiple IT spaces, including giants like Infosys, TCS and Wipro

The mid-sized IT company Persistent Systems too have flagged concerns about rising issues of attrition, as the digital industry gains momentum amid the pandemic.

The company reported an increase in growth of 68% at Rs 151.2 crore, in the quarter ending June, on July 22.

Persistent Systems to Hire 2000 Freshers

Persistent System reported plans to add 2000 freshers to its company in FY22.

The company’s chief financial officer Sunil Sapre stated on Friday, “We will be hiring 2,000 freshers in FY22 and will hire laterals as per the business growth.”

The company reported a growth of 67% in the June quarter, at Rs 151.2 crore.

In the previous three quarters, the company has hired 4,200 people, made up of 3,500 lateral hires

Persistent Systems’ chief executive Sandeep Kalra, in a call with PTI shared that before assigning a fresher on a live project, the company first trains them for a period of six months. 

The company had 14,904 employees as of June 2021 — 37 percent higher than the same base in the year-ago period, adds Moneycontrol.

Sapre informs that the company has applied for H1-B visas for its senior employees , which makes up 80% of the company’s revenues, given the improvement in the business.

Top tier IT companies are in a race to procure the best talent, thereby providing hefty salary packages, bonuses, and employee perks.

“Hiring in the IT sector is at its peak and candidates are getting exorbitant offers and better roles across the industry”, says ABC Consulting’s senior director (technology) Ratna Gupta.

Some of the most attractive digital skills in high demand today include big data, Internet of Things, DevOps, cloud engineers, data science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, digital transformation and automation and Full stack developers.

These skill sets are attracting 50-70% salary hikes.
