Introducing The New AC- Economy Class!

‘Economy Class’ will be offered as a new feature in train travel. The much-anticipated air-conditioned Economy class is about to launch.

There are a total of 27 coaches prepared exclusively for this class. These carriages have been distributed to several zonal railways for immediate usage.

These new AC-Economy coaches will be available on Western Railway trains as well as other trains originating from various parts of the nation. Unlike AC-III tier coaches, these trains have 83 berths instead of 72.

Would It Be Out Of Reach?

About The Fare!

A section of the Indian Railways’ management believes that the tariff should be affordable to individuals who frequently purchase non-AC “Sleeper” tickets.

While another opinion contends that the fares should be as near to those of the AC-III class as possible. According to officials, the fare dispute between the two parties has been in talks since May.

It is also learned that the ministry is likely to take a formal decision on the pricing in the next meeting of the Railway Board.

The Design

The economy class is an upgrade from the non-AC sleeper while being almost on par with the AC-III tier, with an extra bay for the additional berths.

According to the Indian Express, the government was working on this concept because it wanted to bring affordable air conditioning. According to the board’s internal debate, the new class will be designated as 3E in the reservation document.
