Maruti Brezza Becomes #1 Subcompact SUV In India; Tata Nexon Finally Beats Kia Sonet For #3

The subcompact-SUV segment is the hottest it has ever been in the Indian auto market today.

Nearly every automaker has a sub-4 metre SUV in its lineup, and Maruti Suzuki is no different.

Overall Figures

In total, 6 automakers managed to sell 2,44,914 units during the first half of calendar year 2021.

Out of this, 47,251 units were sold in March which turned out to be the highest-selling month this year.

Maruti Vitara Brezza topped the sales chart with over 60,000 units sold in the first half of this year.

Just last month, Maruti Suzuki sold the highest number of subcompact-SUVs with 12,833 units.

The Brezza’s average monthly sales is 10,031 units.

Coming in at number 2 is the Hyundai Venue whose sales clocked in at 54,675 units during the first six months of 2021.

Its highest selling month was January when it dispatched 11,779 units.

Its average monthly sales is 9,113.

Tata Nexon takes the number 3 spot having sold 46,247 units in the year’s first half.

Its highest selling month was March when it sold 8,683 units.

Its average monthly sales volume is 7,708 units.

The Kia Sonet takes the 4th spot as it sold 45,668 units during the first six months of CY2021.

Its highest sales figures were observed in January with 8,859 units dispatched.

It has an average monthly sales volume of 7,611 units.

It trailed the Nexon by a slim margin of just 579 units.

Mahindra XUV300 comes in at the 5th spot having sold 19,383 units during the year’s first half.

The highest number of units sold was in June (4,615 units), taking the average sales figures to 3,231 units.

EcoSport occupied the 6th spot after clocking in a cumulative sales volume of 18,758 units during the first half of CY2021.

It recorded the highest monthly sales recorded in March with 5,487 units dispatched.

It has an average monthly sales figure of 3,126 units.
