The brand new avatar of the Iconic Chetak scooter from the house of Bajaj was launched recently. But so far the scooter is available in select cities only. So far the new Chetak is available in its home ground, Pune, Aurangabad in Maharashtra and Mysore, Mangalore, and Bengaluru in Karnataka. The company is also planning to open up in Hyderabad and Chennai as well.

Next is Nagpur

After tasting its water in some cities in India, the company Bajaj announced on its social media channel that the electric Chetak will go on sale in Nagpur soon. The experience garnered by the company in other cities will help it to position, market, and robustly sell the battery-powered vehicle.

The residents of Nagpur can now show their interest in buying and bookings are expected to start soon.

Given the fascination of Indians for Chetak, the company is receiving a humongous response from the market. When in April the company had opened up its bookings for Chetak, the company had to push a pause button because of an overwhelming response. As far as deliveries are concerned, the company expects to start them in the month of upcoming September.

Overview of Chetak

The Bajaj Chetak electric is available in two variants Urbane and Premium. The urbane version is available at the cost of 1.43 lakh and 1.45 lakh respectively. The prices are ex-showroom prices in Pune. The major difference between both variants is that of the Braking system. The urbane one comes with traditional drum brakes whereas the premium one comes with disc brakes. Apart from that, there are subtle changes such as availability of multiple colors, different seat cover and floor mat.

The Chetak is powered by a 3 kWh battery pack that generates 4.08 kW peak power and achieves a top speed of 60 km/h. The vehicle also offers two different modes of riding as Eco and Sports. The Eco mode optimizes the performance of the vehicle and helps achieve the range of 90 km. But Sport mode helps in faster acceleration while affecting the driving range. The battery can be charged completely in 5 hours straight or can be charged at a faster rate in 1 hour at up to 25% of battery capacity.

With the enthusiasm of customers towards Electric vehicles, the sector surely going to see high growth in upcoming times.
