The cases of COVID-19 infected patients are slowly decreasing in India and the countries which had denied entry to the citizens of India have now started to relax these restrictions against Indians.

Canada, Maldives, and Germany have opened up travel for Indian citizens.

Canada

Starting next week, Indians will be allowed to enter Canada as it joins Maldives and Germany to allow Indians to enter their country. However, as direct flights are banned till July 21, Indians will need to take connecting flights. 

They will also be required to produce a negative Covid-19 test result taken at the final point of departure to Canada.

Till now, Canada has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Astra Zeneca/Covishield, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. However, Covaxin from Bharat Biotech and Sputnik V from the Russian Gamaleya Center have not been approved yet. 

For travelers who are not fully vaccinated or are vaccinated from the above vaccines, there is a mandatory three-day quarantine at a hotel while they await the results of their tests. They will also have to undergo a second test on the eighth day of their arrival and complete a 14-day period of self-isolation. Fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to skip the isolation period.

Germany

Germany has now classified India as “high-incidence areas” from “virus variant countries”. The country’s health agency Robert Koch Institute has lifted its ban on travelers from five countries that were impacted by the  Delta strain COVID-19,  India, UK, Russia, Nepal, and Portugal.

Travelers who are not German residents or citizens will be allowed to enter the country.

Maldives

International flights will resume from July 15 and the country has now reopened its international borders with many South Asian countries, including India.

After 15 July, GoAir, which is now under the name Go First will operate flights from Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai to Maldives’s capital Malé. These flights will begin with a twice-weekly schedule (Thursday and Sunday). Two more flights will be added from August 4, Wednesday and Saturday and finally go daily will begin from 3 September. 

Indigo has also announced that direct flights will begin from July 15 from Mumbai, Kochi and Bengaluru. Flights from Mumbai start 16 July, will operate on Fridays and Saturdays, then daily from 20 July.

Flights from all three cities will arrive at Malé between 1 pm and 4 pm.
