These iPhones, MacBooks Can Literally Stop Your Heart: Pacemaker Advisory Released By Apple

A list of devices by Apple that must be kept away from pacemakers have been released in a list by the Cupertino based tech giant.

Warning the people with pacemakers, the company said that the magnets and radios used in these devices can interfere with the working of several medical equipment such as pacemakers and defibrillators.

Interference Of Electromagnetic Fields

The company, in its updated support page, said that the many of its consumer-electronic devices make use of magnets or other components that emit electromagnetic fields and these, in some cases, can potentially interfere with the pacemakers and defibrillators which are implanted through sensors which are used in medical devices.

It has warned to keep a “a safe distance away” from their medical device among other ways mentioned in the list. A distance of more than 6 inches or 15 cm is to be maintained and the distance if charging wirelessly is 12 inches or 30 cm apart.

In case of any suspected interference with their medical device, the company has asked the users to stop using their Apple product and consult with their physician.

There are many products that fall in the category with MagSafe support, are not advised to be kept near such medical devices.

Know Which Apple Products Are Safe

Devices such as iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro, along a number of iPad accessories are also potentially dangerous.

Alongwith this Apple Watch, its bands with magnets, as well as its magnetic charging accessories are also in the list.

When it comes to the Mac series, Mac mini, Mac Pro, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac make it to the list.

The Apple Pro Display XDR is also named. Other Apple devices include HomePod, HomePod mini, Beats products, iPhone 12 models and MagSafe accessories.

Apple claims that some Apple products also have magnets but these “are unlikely to interfere with medical devices.”
