Indian Railways Start 660 More Trains; Total 983 Express, Mail Trains Running Now (How To Check?)
With the flattening of the coronavirus curve, in order to make the the movement of migrant labourers easier and clear the waiting list in various origin-destination clusters, the Indian Railways has added 660 more trains in June and said it in the statement.
56 Percent Operational To Precovid Level
For comparison’s sake, about 1,768 mail and express trains were operating daily on an average during the pre-Covid times.
About 983 mail and express trains, as on Friday, are being operated daily. This is almost 56 per cent of the pre-Covid level.
Railways said that keeping in mind the demand as well as the commercial justification this numbers are being enhanced. About 800 mail and express trains, as on June 1 are in operation.
Railways To Start 660 More Trains
It said that from the period of June 1 to June 18, operations of 660 additional mail/express trains have been approved. This includes 552 mail and express trains and 108 holiday special trains.
Keeping in view the local conditions, and in the light of demand for tickets and the Covid-19 situation in the region the zonal railways have been advised to restore trains in a graded manner.
