Travelling Abroad For Studies, Work? This State Govt Offering Free Vaccines (How To Get Vaccines?)

Delhi has installed a dedicated vaccine centre which will administer the second dose of Covishield for those who are planning overseas travel before August 31.

When, Where And Who

The inoculation drive for these specific people will commence from today, June 14, 9 AM onwards.

The facility is in Navyug School, Mandir Marg which will cater to those who need to travel overseas for education, employment or as Indian representatives for a sporting event. 

Only those who have crossed 28 days from the date of their first jab will be eligible to receive the second dose. 

The 28-day rule is a special exemption for these people since the standard mandate for everybody else is still a gap of 12-16 weeks.

Eligibility

In order to avail the second dose after 28 days, they will have to carry with them their passports and any document which serves as proof of reason behind travel.

These documents include-

• Admission offers or associated formal communications for students.
• Interview calls for a job or offer letters for those seeking employment abroad.
• Nomination to participate in the Tokyo Olympic Games for those representing India in the event.

Covaxin Recipients In Trouble?

Those who have received the Covaxin jab are now in a conundrum since the vaccine, unlike Covishield, has not been approved by WHO for emergency use. 

The emergency use listing (EUL) is an important metric used by countries to determine whether people who have received a shot of the vaccine in the list can be allowed entry.

India’s other 2 vaccines in its present arsenal -Covaxin and Sputnik V- while have been allowed domestically, have not received EUL status by WHO. 

This raises questions about the vaccine’s international validity.

In India, presently, there is no provision for those who have received Covaxin to receive vaccination certificates. 

The Health Ministry has addressed this issue and has said that it will work on a solution for Covaxin beneficiaries to be recognized by CoWin certificates which can later be linked to one’s passport.
