This New SUV By Maruti-Toyota Will Beat Hyundai Creta? Production Starts From This Factory
TKM’s production site in Bidadi, Karnataka, will produce the upcoming Maruti and Toyota Creta/Seltos rival SUVs.
Maruti Suzuki’s Plans For The Upcoming Vehicles
In a regulatory filing last year, Maruti Suzuki stated that Toyota’s Bidadi manufacturing site in Karnataka will be responsible for the production of a new model that will be sold under both brands.
Maruti Suzuki’s is all set to work on the upcoming vehicles which included five new UVs for the Indian market – one new MPV and four new SUVs.
The Indian automotive industry, as well as the economy as a whole, has been going through another rough patch in the last three months, with restrictions imposed across the country causing a temporary halt in retail sales and production, as well as logistical challenges, but recovery is expected in the second half of this calendar year.
Toyota’s Daihatsu New Global Architecture Platform
This new SUV will be based on Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture), which is a platform designed specifically for emerging markets.
This near-4.3-meter car will be sold under both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota banners and the styling on both is believed to be drastically distinct
The 1.5-litre ‘K-series’ petrol motor, capable of generating 105 PS and 138 Nm that is already in use in Brezza or a new unit altogether.
We also expect Toyota’s offering to be more upmarket than that of Maruti, and the former will be priced higher as well, just like we’ve seen on the Urban Cruiser/Vitara Brezza.
With the arrival of Toyota and Maruti’s new SUVs in this market space, things are sure to get much more competitive.
