Work From Home Ends At Apple; Employees Asked To Come 3-Days A Week To Office

On Wednesday, Apple Inc. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook informed that their employees should resume working from offices in early September for at least three days a week.

iPhone Pushing Staff To Return

According to sources, now the iPhone maker is pushing staff to return to their office for a minimum of three days a week i.e. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

It’s not that work from home is ending, the remote work will still be an option for Wednesdays and Fridays, as per this memo sent by Cook said in a memo obtained by Bloomberg News.

“We are setting consistent days in the office to help us optimize our time for in-person collaboration,” as he mentioned in the memo.

Even some teams will have to be in the office for four or five days a week.

Why Would This Happen?

While talking about the pushing for staff to return, Cook mentioned the availability of vaccinations and declining coronavirus infection rates.

It is worth mentioning here that some employees of the Cupertino, California-based technology giant have worked from Apple offices on certain days throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

While thousands of employees have been away for more than a year.

Already, “many” Apple teams in the Asia and Pacific regions have returned to offices and factories as mentioned by Cook.

It is expected that the remaining closed retail stores will reopen this month.

Two Weeks Extension With Manager Approvals

Earlier, Cook mentioned that the staff might return as early as June, but later on, the company pushed that back to September.

If still in need of an extension then with manager approval, employees will be offered an additional two weeks of remote work per year.

Cook called the return to offices a “pilot” effort in his letter, it will further be reevaluated in 2022.

Cook said, “as the world’s most innovative company, I believe we have a special obligation to get this right,”.

“I am very excited about the opportunity that we have to come together in new ways and chart a new path in the era ahead,” he added.
