100,000 SAP Employees Now Free To Work From Home, Office Or Any Location They Like!

SAP announced in an email to its staff that it will be adopting a “flexible and trust-based workplace as the norm, not the exception”.

Software giant SAP is shifting to a flexible work model for good after its employees expressed positive sentiments with regards to remote working.

The Germany-based company has a workforce of 100,000 employees globally who were forced to work from home as the pandemic broke out.

Overwhelming Majority In Favor Of Remote Work

94% of the staff was found to be in favor of working flexibility and almost half wanted to work in the office for only one or two days a week.

Chief Marketing and Solutions Officer Julia White acknowledged the benefit of personal interaction with co-workers as would be done in an office space.

But being a single mother, she also expressed the value of flexibility which allows her to divide her time between professional and personal commitments.

SAP Announces Its Plans

SAP announced in an email to its staff that it will be adopting a “flexible and trust-based workplace as the norm, not the exception”.

This means that its employees can choose between working from home, at the office or remotely (anywhere outside the office).

They will also be empowered to set their own schedules.

At the same time, the firm will add features to its offices that will facilitate teamwork and collaboration.

Facebook Making Similar Changes

This decision comes in the wake of other tech companies such as Facebook which decided to make the move to remote working permanent even as pandemic-induced restrictions ease.

Facebook’s “pledge to flex” is in response to staff feedback in favor of working remotely.

Only a minority 6% wanted to go back to the old norms of working at the office 5 days a week.
