Finally, the lockdown in the state of Maharashtra is about to be lifted, and non-essential commodities will now be allowed to operate.
As per reports, the lockdown will be gradually lifted from next month, i.e., June 1.

Lockdown In Maharashtra To Lift Finally?
The reduction in the number of COVID-19 patients has resulted in the loosening of the noose around Maharashtra. The news is that the government of Maharashtra is planning to gradually unlock the state from June 1.
COVID-19 has been turning our lives upside down since last year. While the first lockdown was imposed nationwide in March 2020, it was lifted gradually after June.
However, the second wave sent the nation into a frenzy yet again and a lockdown was again announced in many parts of the country, which included Maharashtra.
The state has been under strict restrictions since April 21 in order to slow the transmission of COVID-19. Under this lockdown, private offices, non-essential stores, and restaurants were directed to remain fully closed under the new restrictions. Important shops and service providers, such as groceries, fish, poultry, vegetable, fruits, meat, and egg vendors, are permitted to operate between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., while government offices operate at 15% capacity only.
How Will The Unlock Work Out?
As per reports, the government will now allow shops and establishments dealing in non-essential commodities to operate. However, this also comes with restrictions in the timings of operations. Additionally, government offices will also be operational with more employees.
The possibility of the suburban train network resuming operations is not likely for another few weeks for the general public.
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra stands at 22,122, which has been the lowest single-day spike in 69 days; 17,864 infections were reported on March 16. The total of the state has now breached 5,602,019.
The number of deaths from the Chinese virus stands at 89,212.
However, there has been a distinctive decline in the cases in the past three weeks. This is evident from the reduction in the daily caseload, which is below 30,000, from around 55,000 three weeks ago.
The active cases in Maharashtra dropped to 348, 395 on Sunday, which was 699,858 on April 22. The daily growth rate has also seen a decline to 0.69% on May 18, which was 1.45% on April 30.
