OnePlus Nord 2 launch in June? It’s again on cards, could happen real soon. Popular tipster Digital Chat Station confirmed again that OnePlus is working on a phone running on MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. OnePlus Nord 2 launch will happen sometime in Q2 2021 and it will be powered by MediaTek’s top flagship, the Dimensity 1200 5G chipset. It’s the first time a OnePlus phone will come without a Qualcomm chipset. OnePlus Nord continues to be a best-seller in it’s category.Â
Some major OnePlus Nord 2 details are out, and for the first time, a OnePlus smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek chipset.
Also, OnePlus Nord was the first OnePlus phone to feature a chipset outside of the flagship Snapdragon 800 series.
Previously OnePlus Nord 2 launch details were leaked alongside OnePlus Nord 2 price and specifications, expected to come at a similar price as last year.
Under the Nord series the company then unveiled two budget devices post OnePlus Nord: OnePlus Nord N10 and OnePlus Nord N100, none came to India. In India the company will be focusing in the mid-range segment with the OnePlus Nord 2. The development of OnePlus Nord 2 seems to be in the final stages, and expect the new OnePlus Nord phone in a few weeks from now, probably by May.

Previously leaked by popular tipster Max Jambor, OnePlus Nord 2 development was confirmed way back. Now the device has again been leaked with some strong information. While nothing much is yet out, there’s a lot riding on with OnePlus Nord 2. The predecessor has been a straightaway hit in India, and OnePlus Nord 2 is expected to come with big upgrades at a similar pricing.
In terms of costing, OnePlus Nord 2 price is expected to stay in the same budget category. OnePlus Nord 2 price in India may start at around Rs 30,000 tag for the base model.

Coming to OnePlus Nord 2 specs, the device will come with a big hardware upgrade. The upcoming OnePlus phone will run on MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset with upto 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, improved cameras, display and battery. OnePlus Nord 2 will probably feature a 64MP main camera inside a quad camera system.
The Dimensity 1200 chipset is built on a 6nm node and features Cortex A78 and A55 cores. OnePlus Nord 2 will have a faster Fluid AMOLED display with a refresh of 120Hz instead of the 90Hz on the original Nord.
Similarly, faster charging is expected on OnePlus Nord 2 as well. Finally coming to OnePlus Nord 2 launch, it is expected sooner than July. The device will be unveiled in Q2. OnePlus Nord launched in July. OnePlus Nord 2 India launch may happen by May after the OnePlus 9 series is unveiled. OnePlus Watch will also be launched at the same March event.
Last year, OnePlus Nord launched in India starting at Rs 24,999. With some killer features on-board, OnePlus Nord came with a 90Hz display featuring touch sampling rate of 180Hz. The company has slowly entered the premium flagship space year by year ditching the flagship killer status. Now the company plans to bring another mid-ranger, OnePlus 9R with OnePlus 9 series.
The affordable OnePlus Nord helped the company to get back to where it started and have more hold in the entry premium segment with OnePlus Nord.
OnePlus Nord is still the most affordable smartphone from OnePlus in India since OnePlus One. The company will now sail down the category to enter new segments, probably mid-budget and entry mid-range. Another OnePlus device was earlier said to be in works, the OnePlus Nord Lite.
OnePlus Nord comes with a 6.44-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display offering a 90Hz refresh rate with a punch-hole on top middle alongside a touch sampling rate of 180Hz for gaming. OnePlus Nord is powered by the mid-range Qualcomm 5G chip, the Snapdragon 765G. The chip pairs with 6GB RAM with 64GB storage, 8GB with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.
The device ran on Android 10 out of the box with OxygenOS (now supports Android 11).
In terms of optics, OnePlus Nord packs a quad-camera set-up featuring a 48-megapixel Sony IMX 586 main sensor with an f/1.75 lens with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) + Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) support.
The setup further includs a 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with 119 field-of-view (FOV), a 5-megapixel macro lens with an f/2.4 aperture, and 2-megapixel depth sensor unit. Upfront, the device featured a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor inside a dual setup. The device was backed by a 4,115mAh battery with 30W fast charging support (Warp 30T technology).
