7 Upcoming SUVs, MPVs In India That Will Compel You To Take Notice (Hyundai, Kia, Mahindra & More)

Utility Vehicles (UVs) with six or seven seats are very popular among Indian consumers. Several automobile manufacturers have planned new 7-seater SUVs and MPVs that will hit the roads in the next few years to tap into the booming family car market.

People are looking for more space while they travel and the 7-seater car is offering that, and so much more.

While there are quite a few 7-seater cars available in the market right now. Here’s a brief on the upcoming 7-seater SUVs and MPVs.

Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs And MPVs

Hyundai Alcazar

The Hyundai Alcazar, a three-row variant of the Creta, uses the same platform as the Creta. Although the Alcazar appears to be very similar to the Creta, it has a dozen variations. 

Alcazar’s interior dashboard architecture has yet to be publicly unveiled by Hyundai. What sets the interior of the two SUVs apart is their seating arrangement.

Hyundai Alcazar will be offering the option of either a 6-seater version with captain seats or a 7-seater version with bench seats for the middle row.

The Alcazar will be available with the new 159PS 2.0L petrol and 115PS 1.5L turbo diesel engines, according to the automaker. The 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes will be available.

The Hyundai Alcazar is reported to arrive towards the end of May or June 2021. 

Unofficial reservations for the SUV have already begun around the country. It will be available in 6- and 7-seat versions.

Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra & Mahindra is ready to introduce the XUV700 7-seater SUV during the 2021 festive season. 

The SUV will be built on Thar’s new chassis and will have a longer wheelbase than the current XUV500. The new 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L falcon petrol engines, as well as 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic transmission options, will be offered on the next Mahindra XUV700.

Jeep Commander

The 5-seat Compass, model is likely to be named Jeep Commander.

 It will be offered with 6-seats and 7-seats layouts. The former will feature captain seats in the middle row. 

Under the hood, the new Jeep 7-seater SUV will employ the Compass’ 2.0L, 4-cylinder Multijet diesel engine. Though, the oil burner could be tuned for generating extra power. 

Renault Grand Duster

The French automaker is working on a new seven-seater SUV called the Renault Grand Duster, according to reports. The model was recently sighted on the set of a TVS commercial.

It will be based on the second-generation Duster, which is now on sale in other countries. 

The 6-seater vehicle will include captain seats in the middle row, while the 7-seater variant will have bench-style seats in the second row.

The SUV will come with an EDC automatic gearbox and FWD (front-wheel drive) capability.

The UPCOMING MPVS

KIA KY

Kia Motor India aims to enter into the compact MPV segment with a new model Kia KY.

The next Kia compact MPV will be built on the same platform as the Seltos SUV. The 1.5L normally aspirated petrol (113bhp/145Nm) and 1.5L turbo-diesel (113bhp/250Nm) engines are anticipated to be offered.

HYUNDAI COMPACT MPV

In the next years, Hyundai will enter the tiny MPV market. According to rumours, the MPV’s production-ready vehicle will be called Hyundai Staria. 

In the Philippines, the manufacturer recently trademarked the Staria and Staria Premium names. The car will be based on the Creta’s basis, and 1.5L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines are expected to be available.

 The Hyundai Staria MPV is likely to be slightly more expensive than the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

MG 360M

The MG MPV could be available with a 1.5L petrol engine (103PS and 135Nm) and a CVT automatic transmission.

The 360M will have a seating layout of 2+2+2. The new MG compact MPV will be longer and more capacious than the Maruti Ertiga.
