Reliance Will Set Up 16,000 Kms Long World’s Largest Submarine Cable System!

The construction of largest international submarine cable system in India has been announced by Reliance Jio. In order to support the growth in data demand across the region, Jio is deploying two next generation cables after partnering with several key global partners and submarine cable supplier SubCom.

More than 200 TBPS of capacity spanning over 16000 kms shall be provided by these high capacity and high speed systems. The company has employed open system technology and the latest wavelength to ensure rapid upgrade deployment and the ultimate flexibility to add as well as drop waves across multiple locations.

Reliance Jio in a statement said that due to increased importance of India, its growth and the surge in data consumption since the inception of Jio Services in 2016 and for the first time in the history of fiber optic submarine telecommunications, India is at the center of world map.

IAX & IEX Systems

IAX system connects India eastbound to Singapore whereas the IEX system connects India westbound to Middle East & Europe. These systems will help consumers as well as enterprise users to access the content as well as cloud services.

Asian pacific markets are connected by IAX system with express connectivity from Mumbai, and connects Chennai to Thailand, Malaysia & Singapore.

Whereas the IEX system extends India’s connectivity to Italy, landing in Savona, additional landings in the Middle East & North Africa. The two systems are also connected to the Reliance Jio Global Fiber Network, connecting to both the east and west coast of the USA.

While IAX is expected by 2023, IEX shall be available in early 2024.
