Google, Apple, IBM, Amazon, Microsoft & 25 Other Firms Will Give Work Visa To H1B Employees!

As per newest reports coming in, google is now teaming up with US tech giants to support a programme that will offer work authorization for the spouses of the people who already have an H-1B visa.

Google And 30 Other Companies To Support H-4 EAD Programme

Google, along with 30 other companies will be supporting the H-4 EAD (Employment Authorisation Document) programme.

As per the CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, “Google is proud to support our nation’s immigrants. We joined 30 other companies to protect the H-4 EAD programme which spurs innovation, creates jobs and opportunities, and helps families.”

These 30 other companies also include Adobe, Amazon, Apple, eBay, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, PayPal and Twitter.

As per Catherine Lacavera, Vice President, Legal, Google, an amicus brief with more than 40 companies and organisations is being led in order to preserve and protect the H-4 EAD programme.

Lawsuit Filed To Expedite The Delayed Processing Time of H-4 Work Authorisation

This also is in addition to the amicus brief that Google recently joined to support a lawsuit that was filed by the American Immigration Lawyers Association. This lawsuit has been filed to expedite the delayed processing time of H-4 work authorisation.

A legal brief has been filed by Google in a lawsuit called  Save Jobs USA vs US Department of Homeland Security.

As we all know, the H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa given to employees of US companies who are hired in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. A lot of technology companies hire thousands of employees each year from countries like india and China on the basis of this visa.

The H-4 visa is issued to the immediate family members (spouse and children under 21 years of age) of the H-1B visa holders by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

As per the lawsuit, if this rule is invalidated talented people will be stop from working which will severely impact the employment relations across the country. 

As per reports, about 87% of these families have made crucial life decisions on the basis of H-4 employment such as having children or buying a house.
