Skoda’s New SUV: Kushaq Can Launch In June; Will Challenge Kia Seltos, Creta

There are chances that the month of June shall witness the launch of Skoda Auto’s Kushaq compact SUV in India. According to Zac Hollis, Director, Sales, Service and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, the deliveries of the Kushaq will begin in July this year. He said this amid the uncertainty over the same due to the pandemic and resultant lockdowns across various states in the country.

Speaking on new-gen Fabia, he added thata the Sokda Fabia, according to the company, is not yet planned for India. He further added that the deliveries of Kushaq shall start from July. Also that Skoda plans to launch a new Sedan by end of 2021.

The All New Kushaq

Kushaq first appeared in India in March this year and we saw what the car looked like. Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, Kushaq will be a highly structured product and expects to have low competitive prices. In hindsight, the Kushaq production version is very similar to the Vision IN concept. On the front, there is a signature style grille on the Skoda signature, which is accompanied by bright interior lighting and LED DRL. It also comes with sporty 17 inch dual-tone alloy, bumpers-tone bumpers and Skoda lettering on the tailgate. LED rear lights get the usual crystalline material, giving it a reference to the Skoda SUV family. However, the lower and middle models of the SUV will receive 16-inch steel rims and 16-inch alloys respectively. Kushaq wheel stands at 2651 mm

Various Features Of Kushaq

Dimensionally, the SUV measures 4,221 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width and 1,612 mm in height. It finds the longest wheelbase in the section, standing at 2,651 mm. It has a clearance around 188 mm.

Kushaq will be available to customers in five colors:

  • Candy White
  • Brilliant Silver
  • Carbon Steel
  • Honey Orange
  • Tornado Red

The SUV will be fitted with two petrol engines. Technically, the Skoda Kushaq SUV will be offered by selecting two petrol engines – a 1.0 liter three-cylinder TSI and a 1.5 liter four-cylinder TSI. While the first one will be considered to generate 113 bhp of maximum power, the latter will bind 147 bhp. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 6-speed automatic transmission (1.0-Liter TSI) and a 7-speed DSG (1.5 liter TSI) gearbox.
