It’s official now! MG Motors has announced the launch of a new SUV, which will be here before the end of the year.

MG motors is reportedly testing the petrol version of the ZS SUV. This car will most probably be launched in the third quarter of 2021 and will be pitted against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq.

The new model, as per the rumours, will be called the MG Astor and the name has already been trademarked in India.

MG Motors Announces The Launch OF New SUV; MG Astor Will Be Here By 2021 Q3

As per reports, MG Astor will share the features and design details of the petrol variant. There will be some changes in line with the global facelift that was introduced in the markets in 2020. 

As per reports the car will come with a new touchscreen infotainment system, that is also fitted in the international spec ZS SUV. The car comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, and the infotainment system is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Navigation. The display will be used for the 360 degree camera. 

Additionally, the car will also come with a fully digital instrument console, a colour MID that has various vehicle settings. Some other information will also be displayed, such as tyre pressures.

Apparently, the MG Astor will be the first model in the segment that will offer ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). 

Specifications And Features Of MG Astor

The company is also testing the emergency brakes on the Astor SUV in India. There will also be active driver assistance features such as autonomous emergency braking system, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, front collision warning and hands-free auto parking.

As per reports, the MG Astor will be offered in a petrol variant only and with two options,  a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol.

The features on the car will be quite high end, such as MG iSmart connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, cruise control, automatic AC, 360 degree camera, etc.
