Air India Resumes Flights To London From These Cities; US Asks Citizens To Leave India

Air India has extended its UK schedule from May 16-31. US has urged its citizens in India to return home and has escalated its travel advisory to Level 4.

Air India has extended its UK schedule which lasted earlier from May 1-15. 

It will now be operating two-way flights to Heathrow, London from Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi.

AI’s UK Schedule

The schedule is as follows- 

  • Delhi-Heathrow-Delhi: from May 16-31, barring May 22 and 29
  • Mumbai-Heathrow: from May 16-30, barring May 17, 19, 24 and 26.

Heathrow-Mumbai: from May 17 to May 31, barring May 18, 23, 25 and 30.

  • Bengaluru-Heathrow: dates of May 17, 19, 24, 26 and 31. 

Heathrow-Bengaluru: dates of May 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30. 

Travel Guidelines For Arrivals

Passengers should keep themselves updated on advisories and entry guidelines as posted on the official Air India website. 

Those arriving from the UK should be carrying a negative RT-PCR test report conducted within 72 hours prior to the journey. 

They will also have to compulsorily undertake the test upon arrival at the Indian airport. 

If one tests positive, they will have to undergo isolation in an institutional isolation facility. 

Those tested negative are advised to undergo home quarantine for 14 days which will be followed up by the local authorities. 

US-India Travel Advisory Raised To Level 4

Meanwhile, the US has asked its citizens who are stationed in India to return home. 

It has already issued travel advisories against India, which was escalated to a Level 4 Travel Health Notice by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Level 4 is the highest in terms of severity which reflects the pandemic situation in India. 

Airline Operators Offering US-Bound Flights And Guidelines

US-bound flights are being operated in India by Air India, United Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa, and Qatar Airways with stops in Paris, Frankfurt, and Doha.

As with the UK flights, passengers will have to furnish a negative RT-PCR test which was taken 72 hours before boarding. 

Additionally, certain passengers may have to show proof of recovery with a positive viral test taken recently. 

They must also carry a doctor’s letter clearing them for travel. 

Air India has said that passengers who are already booked on any of these flights will have to revalidate their dates.

It will not accept liability in cases where passengers on its flights are denied boarding or entry to the destination country.
