8 Upcoming Car Launches In May By Kia, Hyundai, BMW & More!

A lot of new cars are expected to be launched in the new and sunny month of May. Here are some details about eight new cars that will be launched this month:

Hyundai Alcazar

Hyundai India has announced that the car will be based on the Hyundai Creta and will be pitted against MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV500, and Tata Safari. It will come with two engine options – a 159PS, 2.0L petrol engine and a 113bhp, 1.5L turbo-charged diesel engine.

The car was scheduled to be launched in April, but the launch has been delayed due to the pandemic.

Skoda Octavia

The fourth generation of the much loved Skoda Octavia is all set to make its debut in the Indian automobile market. There will be two engine options on this car –  1.5-litre unit paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 2.0-litre engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A fixed date of launch is yet to be announced by the company.

Isuzu D-Max V-Cross BS6

Another new generation SUV expected to launch is the new-gen Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. The new Isuzu D-Max V-Cross was showcased in Thailand in 2019 and will be put up on sale  in the first half of May 2021.

Talking about aesthetics, some style upgrades incorporated in the new generation are – a larger double slat grille, LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, the twin LED foglamps. The rear-end of the car will have vertically stacked LED taillamps with peculiar dual-square lamps and a revised tailgate design. 

Mercedes-Benz GLA

The bookings for the 2nd-gen GLA SUV have already begun. The car is powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol producing 161 BHP and 250 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel with variable geometry turbocharger which offers 187 BHP.

Jaguar F-Pace Facelift

Jaguar will be launching this car soon, and bookings have already begun. The updated F-Pace SUV will come with two variants – a 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol or a 2.0-litre turbocharged Ingenium diesel engine options.

BMW 5 Series Facelift

This sedan by BMW was showcased last year with the 5 Series GT. While the car manufacturer has already introduced the latter in the Indian market, the new 5 Series is all set to follow this month.

There will be multiple trim levels on the BMW 5 Series Facelift, which will be powered by petol, diesel engines and paired with an automatic transmission.

Kia Seltos Facelift

Kia Seltos for 2021 has been released, with prices starting at Rs 9.95 lakh. Kia Seltos now has seven powertrain options, thanks to the inclusion of the latest iMT transmission. The 1.5-litre petrol engine now comes with six-speed manual, six-speed iMT, and CVT transmission options, producing 115 horsepower.

 The 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine is still available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. 

Kia Sonet Facelift

The Kia Sonet has been launched in India with introductory prices starting at Rs 6.71 lakh (ex-showroom, India). 

This engine is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission and is only available in the lower trim levels. A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 120hp and 175Nm of torque is the other choice. This engine is available with a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
