BSNL 4G Is Already Live Across These Cities, States; But You Need A New SIM (Full Details)

As we all know that the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is all set up to launch its 4G network pan-India in the coming year.

But it’s surprising that the state-run telco has already started offering 4G VoLTE services in selected circles/cities of India.

To refresh your knowledge, BSNL launched its VoLTE services for its 4G network in the South Zone in Coimbatore last year.

The officials of the company have demonstrated these services live.

Later on, these VoLTE services expanded to more cities/circles from Coimbatore.

Cities/Circles Having BSNL 4G VoLTE Services

Initially, the BSNL 4G VoLTE services were offered in the South Zone in Coimbatore.

Later on, the upgraded protocol was expanded to more cities/circles, including Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

With the use of this VoLTE service, the users in this region will be able to experience higher-quality voice calling.

Not to forget that the users will also be able to make both video and voice calls over data.

BSNL will keep on adding new cities/circles to the VoLTE list.

How Does It Work?

To activate the VoLTE service, the BSNL users holding 4G SIM cards of the company will have to send a request on their device.

Before doing that, the users will have to ensure that he/she is using a 4G VoLTE supported handset.

Next, by using an SMS app, the user needs to send a text “ACT VOLTE” to 53733.

After getting the request, the company will activate the VoLTE service for the user in a little time.

Please note here that the existing BSNL users won’t be able to enjoy the VoLTE service if they are still using a 2G or 3G SIM card.

So why wait, go ahead and get a new 4G SIM card by visiting the nearest BSNL retail shop by spending only Rs 20.

BSNL Hybrid 4G Rolling Out Plans

Reportedly, the state-run telco is not planning to take the traditional route for rolling out 4G in India

As per the plan, the telco has proposed a hybrid 4G plan for India wherein it will reserve 50,000 sites for the Indian vendors.

While the remaining 57,000 sites will be offered to the global vendors.

With this move, even the Indian vendors can participate in the tender process for 57,000 sites reserved for foreign companies on the generation of Proof of Concept (PoC) on time.
