The covid crisis in India is now catching the eye of media. Many are praying and many are coming forward to lend a hand. In one such move, CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai pledged a help of Rs 135 crore for medical supplies and support in the country.

The Indian-born CEO took to the microblogging platform Twitter to express that he has been devastated by how the crisis in India is taking a deadly shape. He said that Google shall provide Rs 135 Crore in funding to @GiveIndia, @UNICEF for medical supplies, orgs supporting high-risk communities, and grants to help spread critical information.
Sanjay Gupta, Country Head, Google India said that the company shall work with local governments in order to steer clear the crisis, lend a helping hand.
He said in his blog post that the entire Google
community is moved by the ordeal that Indians are going through and contemplating
on how as an organization Google can help the nation and its people to ensure
that the information and support reaches the needful so that they can safeguard
themselves and their families.
Including two grants from Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, totalling Rs 20 Crore ($2.6 million), Google announced Rs 135 Crore ($18 million) in new funding for India.
Cash Assistance, Medical Supplies & Employee Donation Campaigns
Cash assistance shall be given to the families hit hardest by the crisis to help with their everyday expenses by GiveIndia and hence first grant will go to them.
Secondly, the grant will be given to UNICEF to help get urgent medical supplies, including oxygen and testing equipment so that it is provided where its required most.
Also, there is an ongoing employee giving campaign with the aim to support high-risk and marginalized communities and by far more than 900 Googlers have contributed Rs 3.7 Crore ($500,000) for the same.
