New Kia Sonet Revealed Before Launch! Checkout Top Unexpected Changes (Should You Buy?)

The 2021 Kia Sonet has been spotted sporting the new Kia logo on its front, lending it a premium look.

Premium Variant

The car will be launched on April 27 at Kia’s “Big Event”. 

The Sonet HTX will take the mantle as the new base variant, replacing the HTK+. 

It boasts updated dual-tone alloy wheels and rear curtains, further lending to its premium appeal. 

Two new features fans can expect include paddle shifters and sun shades for those in the back seats.

The paddle shifters come with  the 7-speed DCT gearbox of the HTX. 

Standard And Safety Features

Retained features include crown jewel LED headlamps and chrome grille surrounds.

Safety features include those that were previously featured only on the GTX+ variant:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Hill Start Assist control (HAC) 
  • Brake assist (BA) 
  • Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)

Engine And Transmission

It will arrive mated with a DCT and automatic transmissions, whereas earlier it was restricted to the iMT (with turbo-petrol) and manual (with diesel) transmissions.

The available modes are drive and traction along with electronic stability control-based feature.

Engine options include- 

  • 1.2-litre petrol with power output of 83 PS and 113 Nm torque; 5-speed manual transmission
  • 1.0-litre turbo petrol with power output of 120 PS and 172 Nm torque; 6-speed iMT/7-speed DCT
  • 1.5-litre diesel with power output of 100PS/115PS (AT) and 240Nm/250Nm torque; 6-speed manual/6-speed AT

Upcoming New Seltos

The Seltos will launch in a revamped and limited edition. 

Called the “Gravity Edition”, teaser images have been released by the automaker.

It is likely to arrive on 27th April as well. 

It is already available in South Korea. 

It features cosmetic updates such as new 18-inch alloy wheels, silver accents on the ORVMs, a redesigned rear skid plate, new grille design and an additional chrome-finished front grille. 

Price And Competition

Both the new Sonet and Seltos to be launched tomorrow will be sporting a bigger price tag as well (current Sonet price ranges from Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 13.09 lakh).

However specifics can only be known upon official launch. 

Kia can once again expect competition from the likes of  Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
