Recent reports revealed that India’s largest IT services firm, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. is all set to provide Covid-19 vaccines to its employees and their family members.

The technology firm is planning to achieve this  through direct partnership with suppliers as the recent government guidelines for vaccinating everyone above the age of 18 years beginning May 1.

So far, this IT giant has nearly half a million employees,out of which  a majority of them are stationed in India.

Talking on the subject, a Tata Consultancy Services spokesperson said, “We have already been undertaking the vaccination drive for our eligible associates and their dependents, through our hospital tie-ups across locations. Taking into cognizance the recent directives of government, we are working out modalities of vaccination drive in direct partnership with suppliers,”.

Covid-19 Vaccination Drive In Infosys, Wipro And Tech Mahindra

Similarly the other IT majors in India like Infosys, Wipro and Tech Mahindrat are  also organising vaccination camps on campuses across India to inoculate employees and their family members against Covid-19.

The global chief people officer at Tech Mahindra, Harshvendra Soin said, “We believe in ‘Wellness before Business’ which is why we have several initiatives in place to ensure the safety and health of our associates and their loved ones,”. 

Further adding that “We have recently launched an exclusive Covid-19 vaccination drive for our associates and their dependent family members across India…and are also covering the cost of vaccinations for our associates and third-party employees.”

On the other side, a Wipro spokesperson said that “On Thursday, we are organising our first vaccination drive  camp at our Electronics City campus for Bengaluru-based employees. We are making necessary efforts to roll out vaccination camps across other major offices in India,”.

Further adding, “We are monitoring the situation and working with experts to ensure that our employees get the best support at every stage.”

Largest Private Employers

Currently, the top five IT firms in India— Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies Ltd,  are amongst the largest private employers in India.

.In total, they employ a total of more than 1.2 million people, or a quarter of India’s 4.6 million workforce. 

Out of them, TCS being the largest employer with 488,649 professionals, followed by Infosys with 259,169 people and Wipro 197,712.
