Several New Launches In SUV Segment In India

This also represents the opportunities being the fastest-growing market.

Now car manufacturers are planning to expand their SUV lineup in coming years, to tap the opportunities in this segment.

If we talk about the sub-4 meter SUV space, it has already been crowded.

In addition to that, the mid-size and premium 7-seater SUV space will soon witness several new launches adding to the existing population.

SUV’s From Maruti

In this race, India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is not behind.

As it has also been working on a range of new SUVs including a premium 7-seater, a Baleno-based crossover, a mid-size SUV (with Toyota) and a 5-door Jimny.

Currently, the automaker is analyzing a bigger vehicle segment as informed by Kenichi Ayukawa, the Managing Director Maruti Suzuki.

Basically, the company aims to “evolve as a full-scale car maker catering to all kinds of customers”.

On the other hand, there are rumors about the Indo-Japanese carmaker, who is planning to introduce a 7-seater SUV built on Suzuki’s C-platform.

Although, it has the same architecture that underpins the global-spec Vitara SUV.

Maruti’s New Three-Row SUV

Reports revealed that the production version of the new Maruti three-row SUV is to be christened as Maruti Grand Vitara.

In terms of prices, for this model, they are likely to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Considering the price point, it is expected to take on the cars like MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV700.

Maruti’s Premium 7 Seater MPV

Apart from this, Maruti Suzuki is also planning on a premium 7-seater MPV which

is to be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant reportedly.

They plan to position it above the Ertiga. It will come as an affordable option for the Toyota Innova Cyrsta.

In terms of competition, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki 7-seater MPV is expected to rival the upcoming MPVs from Hyundai, Kia, MG and Tata.

They are also planning to sell these new bigger SUVs via Maruti Suzuki’s premium Nexa dealership network.
