Uber Is Giving Free Rides Worth Rs 1 Crore To Support Vaccination In This State

Uber is offering free rides to and from vaccination centres in Bangalore and other 34 other Indian cities.

Uber India has declared  Rs 1 cr  worth of free rides for those getting vaccinated in Bangalore, Karnataka.

The announcement is part of its “ #MoveWhatMatters “  global initiative supporting vaccination drives worldwide

A similar deal is being rolled out in the US as well.

Uber and Indian Vax Drive

In India the promotion is part of its publicly declared commitment in support of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), state govts and NGOs that are working in the second phase of the nation-wide anti-Covid inoculation drive. 

The free ride promotion applies to those traveling to and from Covid vaccination centres in 34 Indian cities in the states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra.

In Maharashtra the promotion is available in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Aurangabad.

Who It Benefits

In an official statement Uber said that vulnerable citizens will be aided in their travels to and from authorised vaccine centres. 

Those eligible are in the age group of 60+ years and 45+ years with comorbidities. 

These people can access free rides through easily redeemable promo codes. 

It will also help provide earning opportunities for drivers who were severely impacted by the pandemic 

Promotion Specifics

The value of the rides it is giving away for free are Rs 1 cr, each ride amounting to a maximum of Rs 150.

2 free rides can be availed by a single user, that is a round trip to and from the vaccination centre.

The final amount on display at the end of the ride will be inclusive of the promo discount.

How To Avail Free Rides

  • Open the Uber app and go to Wallet in the main menu on the top left
  • Select ‘Add promo code’ and enter 10M21V
  • The offer will be added to a trip to the nearest authorised govt or private vaccination facility.
  • Return to the home screen and enter the pick-up and drop-off location for the person taking the ride
  • Confirm trip. 
  • Upon trip completion the displayed fare will include the Rs 150 discount.
