1) Alcazar Uses Modified Creta Exterior

Alcazar has been reworked to accomodate 2 more seats from its 5 seater sibling, the Creta.

Other visual modifications include a restyled grille and bumper on the front.

On the rear, one observes new taillights and a redesigned tailgate.

The side profile is elongated and the car gets flashy new 18-inch machine-cut alloy wheels.

2) Boasts The Longest Wheelbase In Segment

Measuring in at a sizable 2,760mm, the Alcazar wheelbase is longer than the Creta (2,610 mm), Tata Safari (2,741mm) and Mahindra XUV500 (2,700mm).

This makes it the largest in its segment.

Apart from giving the Alcazar a powerful presence on the road, it lends a lot of personal space and legroom for passengers inside in the middle and last rows as well.

3) 6 and 7 Seater Layouts

Despite no visual reveals there is confirmation of the car being offered in both 6 and 7 seater configurations.

The 6 seater layout includes 2 captain seats in the 2nd row and the 7 seater layout comes with bench seats instead.

Moving in and out of the 3rd row is made easy with side steps and a one-touch-tumble feature on the second-row seats.

4) Sunroof And Camera

The Alcazar will be sporting a sunroof covering the top of the entire vehicle, a feature borrowed from the Creta.

It will also come with a  360 degree camera allowing drivers more visibility and facilitate maneuverability.

5) Engine And Performance

  • The petrol engine variant:

The Alcazar will be powered by a  2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Elantra premium sedan and the Tucson SUV which will put out 159 Ps and has 192 Nm of torque .

  • The diesel engine variant:

This is a 1.5-litre diesel engine which has 115 Ps and torque of 250 Nm.

Each is mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox which will transmit power to the front wheels alone.

6) Impressive Handling

Despite the larger proportions of the vehicle with respect to size and weight, its handling is not compromised.

There are disc brakes on all the wheels which allows body roll to be well contained and for a good braking response.

The steering is responsive which allows for a pleasurable driving experience.

7) Price And Competition

The Alcazar is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 13-20 lakh.

It is positioned to rival the likes of the new Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV500.

Given its price, it could also go toe to toe with popular MPVs such as Maruti Ertiga/XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, and the Toyota Innova Crysta.
