A camouflaged next-generation Kia Sportage was spotted in a parking lot in a recent spy video. Since there was no one else around, the photographer was able to get close to the crossover and get a look beneath the body covering. Now, rendering artist Gotcha Cars has created a speculative rendering of the latest Sportage based on the glimpse.

The Sportage is expected to make its debut in April, which may be as soon as a few weeks. Before the end of the year, sales will begin in the United States.

Next-Gen Kia Sportage Based On Artist Gotcha Cars

Gotcha Cars has produced a speculative rendering of the latest Sportage based on the glimpse. The rendering gives the next-generation crossover a unique look. But, based on what we’ve seen so far, this may be true. The headlights on the Sportage are vertically focused with a trapezoidal surround. The inner edge is occupied by the running lights.

The tiger-nose grille is still there, but it has shrunk in size to become something of a crosspiece between the headlights. The visual presence of a much wider inlet is much greater. The lower fascia has a pair of horizontal slats running the vehicle’s entire width. Foglights are in each corner. Based on recent Kia models, the Sportage should be very impressive on the inside.

The Engine

The Kia Sportage will be built on the same platform as the Hyundai Tucson. Because of the preferences for various sizes depending on the venue, there would be two different wheelbase lengths depending on the market.

The Sportage’s engines should be similar to those used in the Hyundai Tucson. A 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower (139 kilowatts) and 178 pound-feet of torque is standard on the Hyundai (241 newton-meters).

A hybrid with a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder generating 226 hp (169 kW) and 258 lb-ft of torque is also available (350 Nm). The PHEV is also going, according to spy shots.

Spy shots confirm that the PHEV is coming, too.
