This Country Has Banned All Indians Till April 28th For Rising Coronavirus Cases

Indian travelers will no longer be allowed to enter New Zealand, as declared by the latter’s prime minister, Jacinda Ardern.

Indian Travellers Banned From Entering New Zealand Due To Increasing Cases

This is reportedly a temporary ban imposed by Jacinda Ardern, which will start on April 11. The cases of COVID-19 infected people are piling up, which is the main reason cited by the Prime Minister for this measure.

As per Ardern, the arrival of COVID-19 infected people from India has prompted this measure but is no longer a country specific risk assessment. 

Ardern stated, “I want to emphasize that while arrivals of COVID from India has prompted this measure, we are looking at how we manage high risk points of departure generally. This is not a country specific risk assessment….”

In simple terms, all travelers, including the citizens of New Zealand itself, will be banned from entering the country. 

This ban will begin on April 11 at 4 pm local time and will be in place until April 28. Risk management measures will be looked at by the government so as to make it safer for people to travel again.

17 Out Of 23 Cases At NZ Border Are Indians

Reportedly, the country has virtually eliminated the virus within the borders. In fact, there has been no report of any community transmission locally for about 40 days. New Zealand has been reviewing the border settings as there is a greater number of infected people entering the country. A majority of these are from India. 

As per reports, 23 new positive coronavirus cases were reported at the border of New Zealand, 17 of which were from India.

As of now, the total number of COVID-19 infected people in India has reached 12.9 million, of which, 11.9 million have recovered from the disease, and 167 thousand deaths have been registered, as confirmed by the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

India has been reporting more than 100,00 cases of the disease daily for the last three days. 

On the other hand, the total number of COVID-19 infected people in New Zealand has reached a meager 2555, of which, 2434  have recovered from the disease, and 26  deaths have been registered.
