Covid-19 Digital Pass Now Accepted In Singapore; 20+ Airlines Testing This Seamless Travel Pass

The aviation regulator of Singapore on Monday said that next month they will accept visitors who use a mobile travel pass containing digital certificates for COVID-19 tests and vaccines. This move has made it one of the first countries to adopt the initiative.

Singapore To Accept IATA Mobile Travel Pass

For the pre-departure checks, the country shall accept the International Air Transport Association (IATA) mobile travel pass. Here, the travellers will show a smartphone application containing their data from accredited laboratories and get the clearance to fly to and enter Singapore.

The pass which was tested by Singapore Airlines, is also tested by more than 20 carriers, including Emirates, Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines.

Willie Walsh, Director General – IATA said that the successful partnership of them and the government of Singapore will be a model for others to follow.

One Of The First Nation To Open Up Borders

Singapore, which is one of the prominent Asian business hub has been successful to curb the spread of the virus and has had relatively few cases. It has also been on the front of developing and using technology during the pandemic and intends to one of the first nation to open up its borders from international events.

In order to resume the travel faster as well as avoid complications and delays at airports where multiple checks on documents are required, airports are hoping that more and more nations now should approve digital passes on apps to allow travel. A pre-departure COVID-19 swab tests within 72 hours of their flights is required to be taken by travelers from most countries currently in order to travel to Singapore. The results of these tests are in turn presented at the check-in and on arrival at airport.
