Qualcomm To Launch The A New Chipset: Snapdragon 780G 5G

While the new processor hasn’t been announced by the company yet, a press release has been accessed, which gives out some details about the upcoming launch of the new processor.

The processor will come with an improved CPU, GPU, AI Engine, ISP, and many more features.

The Snapdragon 780G 5G will be a 5 nm processor, similar to the Snapdragon 888, which is the best of the chipsets by the company. Reports are that the new chipset will be made at Samsung foundries. The octa-core processor will also come with two Cortex A78 cores, clocked at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

Coming to the GPU of the processor, there is the Adreno 642, which will offer True 10-bit HDR gaming, ultra-smooth gaming, and updateable GPU drivers.

The chipset will also come with a new triple ISP, which is the first one for the Snapdragon 7-series; this is called the Spectra 570. In simple terms, a picture can be captured from the zoom, wide, and ultrawide lenses all at the same time.

The press release by Qualcomm states that the Snapdragon 780G 5G chipset comes with a “new low-light architecture powering professional quality photos in any lighting condition.”

Additionally, there also is support for 4K HDR and HDR10+ video capturing.

Snapdragon 780G 5G To Offer Twice AI Performance

The chipset will also come with a  6th gen AI Engine, the Hexagon 770. This improves the 12 TOPs AI performance, which is twice that of its previous one. A second-gen Qualcomm Sensing Hub integrates a low power AI processor for audio processing.

The modem on the chipset is the Snapdragon X53 5G modem-RF System, which will ensure a download speed of up to 3.3Gbps on sub-6GHz frequencies. Additionally, the processor also comes with Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 and multi-gigabit Wi-Fi 6 speeds up to 3.6Gbps. It will also support Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 with the same audio features as the Snapdragon 888, and the new Snapdragon Sound technology.

As per Qualcomm, commercial devices that will come with the new chipset can be expected to be launched in the second quarter of the year. There also are reports about the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G to be fitted with this new chipset.
