Harley-Davidson’s New 300CC Motorcycle Will Challenge Royal Enfield’s Dominance

SRV 300 is Harley-Davidson’s latest attempt at capturing Indian market

Dubbed simply SRV 300 Harley Davidson (HD) along with China’s Qianjiang Motors is reportedly developing a V-twin Sportster.

The name implies the bike will be powered by a 300 cc V-twin engine

The partnership between HD and Qianjiang Group (Italian bike manufacturer Benelli’s parent company) was made with the intention of penetrating the Asian motorcycle market and offering a variety of accessible bikes especially in the hot selling 300cc to 400cc category.

Similar To Conventional Harley Davidsons

Based on sketches leaked online, the bike resembles the traditional HD motorbike sporting a bulbous teardrop-shaped fuel tank, circular front headlamp, wide handlebars and bobber style seat with the extended rear fender.

The all black bike shares design templates with other HD products such as the Iron 883 and Benelli 302s.

Exterior Features

The sporty aesthetic is accentuated with blacked-out mechanical bits.

It also comes with twin rear shock absorbers, swingarm, front and rear disc brakes.

The bike’s smart features include a TFT instrument panel with Bluetooth for smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

Engine

The engine is expected to be a 296cc V-twin with an output of 30 HP.

Top speed will likely be 130 kmph.

Weighing in at approximately 165 kg the bike will allow for easy manoeuvring.

Competition With Royal Enfield

HD has failed to make a sizable impact in the Indian market, losing out to Royal Enfield’s historical dominance.

This new attempt will hopefully give HD an edge in capturing one of the fastest growing automobile markets in the world.

The pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 3-3.50 lakh.
