Drivers of Ola and Uber in several parts of Delhi-NCR have declared a strike on Monday, with a demand for fare hikes. Customers of the two online cab aggregators have recorded videos and also tweeted about the discomfort that has been caused by the strike.

As per reports, the drivers are demanding that the base fare should be a minimum of Rs. 100, As of now, the base fare is only Rs. 30-35 as base fare. The drivers are also asking for Rs. 6-7 for subsequent kilometer runs as a minimum. 

They are complaining that the Rs. 6-7 per kilometer that the drivers get is way lesser than what is offered to the auto drivers. 

One of the drivers of Ola has said, “We are provided Rs 6-7 per kilometer which is even less than that the auto drivers are getting. We are doing this protest so that the company issues a rise in the base fare and we will keep protesting until the fare is hiked, even if it takes weeks we will continue our protest.” 

Customers Of Ola And Uber Complain About Inconvenience Caused By Strikes

Obviously, the strike of Ola and Uber drivers has been a major inconvenience to people going to their workplaces with cabs, especially making the first day of the week even more stressful. Some of the customers of the top cab aggregators have taken to social media to express their aggravation. 

As per a tweet by a customer, “Uber and Ola have increased commission from 20 to 25 and now 30% ! Thats a huge cut. This is why there is a cab strike today. Sad that #uberindia #uber #olacabs chose this difficult time to fatten their take @Uber_India @Uber @Uber_Support @Olacabs.” 

This shows that Uber and Ola have also increased their commission to 30%, which was about 20 to 25% previously.
