Mumbai has made RT-PCR Covid-19 test reports mandatory for people entering shopping malls due to an increase in the number of novel coronavirus cases. The government is trying hard to make people follow the COVID norms and urging people to take the covid vaccine without any doubt.
Maharashtra has been the worst affected state with a record of 25,833 new coronavirus cases on Thursday. The state’s caseload now stands at 23,96,340, while the death rate has risen to 53,138, with 58 new deaths.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared on Friday that all malls in the city would be allowed to use the Rapid Antigen Test facility to collect samples for Covid-19 testing.
The new rule will come into effect from 22 March.
Antigen Test Will Done At The Entrance Of The Shopping Mall
Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has asked divisional commissioners to ensure that the restrictions imposed to combat the spread of Covid-19 are strictly enforced. CM Thackeray had previously met with mall owners and issued a final alert for violating Covid-19 protocols.
“A team will be designated at the entrance for this very purpose. The details are being worked out,” the Mumbai civic body said.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has stated that all city residents must work together to stop the virus from spreading and prevent a lockdown.
“I think imposing a night curfew is necessary right now. We are also considering shifting the crowded markets to new sites. All Mumbaikars need to work together to prevent the imposition of a lockdown,” said Pednekar.
Lockdown Isn’t The Answer To The State’s Rising Covid-19 Cases
According to Maharashtra’s Health Minister, the state is second only to Rajasthan in terms of Covid vaccination.” The state has ranked second at the national level in Covid-19 vaccination. Rajasthan is ahead of us,” he said in a tweet.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said after taking his first shot of the anti-Covid vaccine.
“There is no need to have any fear or apprehension about the vaccines. I appeal to whoever is eligible to get vaccinated. We are speeding up vaccination,”
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that lockdown isn’t the solution to rising Covid-19 cases in the state.
“The state is also low on vaccine going waste. It is 6% in Maharashtra as against some states in the country where the figure is as high as 20%. We are trying to achieve zero wastage of vaccines and steps are being taken in this direction,” Tope said.
