Pizza Outlet Slapped With Rs 1 Crore Lawsuit For Delivering Non-Veg Pizza To A Vegetarian
Recently, a pizza with non-vegetarian toppings instead of vegetarian toppings was served to a customer by an American restaurant serving pizza, post which she moved to the consumer court demanding Rs 1 crore in compensation.
Compensate For The Taxing Rituals: Complainant
Deepali Tyagi, a resident of Ghaziabad has filed a petition after her order was messed up and is claiming that the pizza company must compensate her for undergoing the taxing rituals to undo the “damage”
Unknowingly she had the meat pizza and she claims herself to be a pure vegetarian because of her “religious beliefs, own conscience”
For her and family, on March 21, 2019, Tyagi has ordered vegetarian pizza. She claims that not only was it delivered late but instead of mushroom it had meat topping.
Moving To Consumer Court & Claiming Lakhs For Rituals
A complaint of gross negligence of delivering a pizza “non-veg pizza in a house of pure vegetarians” was raised by her, told her lawyer Farhat Warsi told the consumer court.
To make up for the wrongdoing, a manager from the pizza outlet reached out to Tyagi, promising her and her family free pizzas.
Not satisfied and dismissing it as a small error, Tyagi said that not only it hurt her religious beliefs and practices but also has caused mental agony to her. According to her, she will have to undergo “several long and expensive rituals”, costing her lakhs of rupees, as a form of atonement.
