Infosys Co-founder Says Work From Home Will Exist For A Long Time; Explains How 2.4 Lakh Infosys Staff Went To WFH In 21 Days!

Covid-19 has blown the carefully knitted human civilization and gave us a herculean task to reshape the world. All Indians realized the gravity of the situation and were left with no alternative but for prolonged quarantine. Employees are upended by the impact and businesses have a huge responsibility to stand firm until the difficult phase passes.

Companies couldn’t provide the same experience as before to customers as well as employees. Almost all companies had to prepare for remote working and tried to conduct a regular meeting to motivate the employees and keep the business ongoing.

WFH During The Pandemic

In this changing world, modernization is happening drastically, therefore having its advantages and challenges respectively. Companies had to switch to work from home during the pandemic. But now when we all are expecting the economy to revamp and go back to our normal working environment.  Employees are reluctant to return to the office as they appreciate the chance to spend more time with their families.

Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani said on Thursday said “It is to the credit of the Indian IT industry that they managed to get millions of people to work from home in three to four weeks. For example, at Infosys, 2,40,000 employees in 40 countries moved to WFH in three weeks because they had the technology infrastructure to do so,” Speaking to Hindustan Times Editor-in-chief Sukumar Ranganathan, Nilekani said that people do want to come to the office, but a clear picture is yet to emerge.

“WFH has a fundamental impact, but we don’t now what steady-state we will reach. We do want to go back to work in offices – the value of meeting people, the serendipity, the ideas and innovation require people to come together. There’s no clear idea but one thought is that it settles at two-thirds in the office on any given day and one-third from home,” he added.

Target is to on-ramp work from home setup

The Businesses saw the eradication of the fixed cost of the business as there was no maintenance required for their office spaces. Some people had to carry their files and work from home, sometimes to recheck details, a pending work or during maternity leaves. People have never been serious about it but now when they got a taste of it, they want to continue with the trend.

 Calling it good news, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani said that WFH will reduce pressure on the commuters and traffic and people will still be able to work as quoted in Hindustan Times.
