Ford Ecosport SE
It is a Made in India production which was already launched in international markets since 2015 and has now been newly launched in India.
It is a departure from its predecessor since it no longer has a tailgate mounted spare wheel, but comes with a tyre puncture repair kit instead.
It starts at Rs 10.49 lakh for the petrol variant, and Rs 10.99 lakh for the diesel version. There are only minor differences but it is Rs 70,000 more expensive.
Petrol & Diesel Variants
The petrol engine is a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder TiVCT petrol engine with 122 bhp and 149 Nm torque.
The diesel engine is a 1.5 litre TDCi diesel engine, 97 bhp, and peak torque 215 Nm.
Both come with 5 speed manual gearbox/transmission.

Legality of Missing Spare Tyre
According to an amendment to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules in July 2020, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) says that M1 passenger vehicles need not always come with a spare wheel.
M1 Vehicles refer to passenger vehicles with maximum 9-seater capacity including the driver and the vehicle having a maximum weight of 3.5 tonnes.
This exemption from rear mounted tyre is only for models with TPMS, tubeless tyres and puncture kit all of which the Ecosport SE possesses.
Competition
The compact SUV market/segment in India is intensely competitive.
The current market leaders are Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Other top sellers are the Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon.
New entrants are the Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite.
2021 Renault Triber
The compact MPV was launched at Rs 5.30 lakh, making it the cheapest in India.
There are no cosmetic or mechanical enhancements save for a few added features including LED turn indicators on the outside rearview mirrors, and steering mounted audio controls.

The Triber comes with only one petrol engine- 3 cylinder, 72 PS max power, 96Nm peak torque and a 5 speed manual gearbox
