Amidst the growing cases of coronavirus in the country, one might feel that the country is back to square one that it was a year ago. While the situation may seem like that, one major progress that the world has made in the fight against the pandemic is inventing the vaccine.
After covering the frontline workers, the government is planning to gear up to vaccinate the senior citizens. On 26 February, the price of doses of vaccine was finalized in a meeting on Co-Win 2.0.
What Is The Cost Of Vaccine?
According to sources, Maharashtra Health Minister Dr. Pradeep Vyas revealed that the service charges for administering vaccines were decided at the virtual meeting and training on Co-Win 2.0. The meeting which was held a couple of days ago was supervised by the CEO of the National Health Authority and Union Health Secretary.
As decided in the meeting, private hospitals can charge Rs 250 for a single dose of the vaccine. Vyas explained that the private hospitals acting like Covid 19 vaccination centers will recover Rs 100 as a service charge. The remaining Rs 150 is the cost of a single dose of vaccine.
What Is The Next Phase Of Vaccination Drive?
Till now a total of 1.37 crore doses of the vaccination have been rolled out throughout the country. Union Ministry of Health And Family Welfare highlighted that 1.71 lakh healthcare workers are administered with the second dosage. It is evident that the vaccination drive is being carried out in full swing.
After covering the Covid 19 frontline workers, the drive will soon move to the next phase where senior citizens above the age of 60 and people aged above 45 with comorbidities. The Co-Win app is also expected to get updated to its new version including the newly mentioned groups on 1 March.
Vandana Gurnani, additional secretary and mission director of the National Health Mission, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, affirmed that the decided arrangement of charges will be effective till further orders,
As of now, States and Union Territories will be informing private hospitals about the decided charges of administering vaccines and also encourage them to make contributions in the drive.
