Capgemini is set to induct 30,000 new employees in India this year. The figure is 25% higher than the previous year, when they hired 24,000.
This comes on the back of an increased demand for digital solutions talent prompted by the pandemic along with optimistic business prospects.
India’s Significance for Capgemini
Ashwin Yardi, chief executive of Capgemini in India said that the hiring will be an even mixture of freshers and experienced workers.
India is at the core of the French company’s operations with the largest chunk of workforce at 125,000 employees out of a total 270,000.
Who Are They Hiring?
The competencies the firm is looking for are in the fields of cloud, engineering and research and development, artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, edge computing and cybersecurity; of which digital and cloud delivered 65% of total revenue in December.
As working models saw a shift from physical office presence to virtual offices, cloud solutions , remote technology and cybersecurity have become the need of the hour.
Capgemini is also set to benefit from a pandemic that is showing signs of slowing down. There are more contracts from clients on the horizon as things gradually return to pre-Covid normalcy.
Others Follow Suit
Infosys is also eyeing a similar outreach, increasing hiring from the current 15,000 to 24,000 graduates fresh out of college.
Cognizant, which reportedly set up a $30 million retention fund to curb voluntary attrition which reached concerning levels of late, looks to hire 23,000 people this year in a 33% jump from earlier.
Capgemini is using financial perks and incentives to retain employees. Last April in the nascent stages of the pandemic, the firm announced pay hikes for all its employees.
