The production of the Civic and the CR-V had been phased out completely and production at the Great Noida plant has been stopped, as per the official announcement by Honda. If reports are to be believed then Honda is working working on a mid-size SUV for the Indian market.

A new mid-size SUV, HR-V also known as Vezel, was unveiled by Honda in some countries. While the HR-V never made its way to India, the latest third-generation is expected to get launched in our country.

Features Of The New Honda HR-V

Looking like Porsche Cayenne Coupe from certain angles, it is one of the most attractive mid-size SUVs. Headlamps, in the front are inspired by the current generation City. The LED headlamps are sleek and end with a curve at the end. It also gets LED Daytime Running strip in the upper part.

As it comes with horizontal slats that are finished in body colour, grille looks unique and we get sleek fog lamps and a faux skid plate in the lower half of bumper. Above the faux skid plate, we can also see the mesh grille for the air dam.

What gives the car a two-door look is the rear door handle on the C-pillar when it comes to the side profile. The wheel arches are sculpted, there is a chrome garnish near the door sill and you also get 5-spoke alloy wheels. SUV will come with a lane watch camera, as there is a camera mounted with the left outside rearview mirror, which is visible when closely observed.

The sleek light bar that runs across the width of the SUV is the first thing that will be noticed by anyone at the rear. Neatly integrating the brake lights into the light bar is the sleekness of LED tail lamps. Along with the silver faux skid plate, two slim reflector strips in the lower half of the bumper can be seen.

Just like Honda City, the HR-V will come with a similar layout when it comes to interiors. It shall have a high-quality interior with leather seats, rear AC vents, wireless charger, semi digital instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, push-button to start/stop, automatic climate control among many other features.

A floating touchscreen infotainment system shall come with an Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A sunroof to open up a sense of airiness in the cabin is also expected. It shall have many features of a connected car, namely, remotely unlock/lock the car, honk or turn on/off the lights, geofencing, find my car etc.

It shall be plonked with the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 145 Nm, as 5th generation City. There will be an option of a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-step CVT.

Competition From Other Players

With Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, upcoming Volkswagen Taigun and soon to be launching Skoda Kushaq as its competitors, it will be interesting to see how it fares with them.
