Redmi K40 Price, Launch: Smallest Punch-Hole Ever, Snapdragon 870, 108MP Camera

Redmi K40 will come with the smallest punch-hole display on a smartphone ever. Redmi GM Lu Weibing said the company is aiming to offer the highest possible screen-to-body ratio and Redmi K40 display will have the smallest punch-hole cutout ever done on a smartphone yet. Vivo S5 currently has a punch-hole of 2.98 millimetres, claimed to be the smallest in the world, so Redmi K40 will even have a smaller one than Vivo S5.

All set to launch in February, the key specs and price have been already revealed. Redmi will launch K40 with two of the models: Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 870. Redmi K40 retail box has been leaked as well. The phone may come with the charger in the box, and not follow the strategy the company started with the Mi 11.

With Apple 13 series ditching the chargers, soon most companies joined the bandwagon. Xiaomi also chose to drop the charger with a free opt-in option to support the cause of reusing accessories and cut down carbon footprint.

Redmi K40 will come with the all-new Snapdragon 870 chipset, announced this week for affordable flagship phones. Redmi K40 Pro is also said to be in the pipeline alongside Redmi K40. Redmi K40 launch will happen initially in China next month, the company confirmed.

Redmi K40 India availability is yet to be confirmed, expected between late February and March.

Redmi K40 series have been confirmed with the latest Qualcomm flagship chip, the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Interestingly Redmi K40 price has been revealed by Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing. Redmi K40 series will succeed the much popular Redmi K30 from last year. Leaked Redmi K40 specifications include design, processor and display.  

Redmi K40 Specs Leaked: Redmi K40 Pro?

Within a few days after the launch of Xiaomi Mi 11, the world’s first smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 888, Redmi also has confirmed the launch of the much-awaited Redmi K40 series. All set to launch in February, Redmi K40 series will similarly be powered by the same Qualcomm SD 888 chip.  But new reports say otherwise. Redmi K40 may come with the all-new Snapdragon 870 chipset. 

Snapdragon 870 SoC was announced this week as a sub-flagship processor positioned below Snapdragon 888 SoC.

It’s an upgrade over Snapdragon 865+ SoC offering incrementally improved performance, connectivity and efficiency. Weibing also hinted at an AMOLED display for the Redmi K40, but not a 3D curved design as Mi 11. 

Redmi K40 will come at a reasonable pricing offering longer battery life and similar premium experience. Redmi K40 series launch has been officially confirmed by Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing. He took to Weibo, the microblogging website revealing some key features of the upcoming flagship K40 series.

Last year, Redmi released multiple variants of Redmi K30, and expect a year-long release of different Redmi K40 variants. Snapdragon 888 may only power the Pro version, while Redmi K40 may feature a top mid-range chip. Redmi K40 Pro may also become the cheapest Snapdragon 888 smartphone soon.

Redmi K40 price in China is teased to start at CNY 2,999 (around Rs 34,000). Weibing took to Weibo to officially confirm the Redmi K40 series. Redmi K40 launch will happen in February. Redmi K40 will initially be unveiled in China, as the company confirmed. Redmi K40 India availability is yet to be announced, expected between late February and March.
