Freshers Recruitment In Tech Mahindra

The Indian multinational IT firm expects over 5,000 freshers to join its workforce by June this year.

as of December 31, 2020, the Mahindra Group company had an employee base of over 1.21 lakh.

In terms of utilization, it had stood at an all-time high of 87 percent.

Tech Mahindra Expects A Growth In Headcount

Recently, the Chief Financial Officer of Tech Mahindra, Manoj Bhat said, “The way to look at it is that we will see headcount growth going forward,” to analysts over a call.

He further added, “Our plan now is our campus recruitment program has already started recruiting this quarter and over the next two quarters, we expect about 5,000 people to join. So I think on all fronts we are adding capability and talent,”.

Automation As A Counter

While talking about automation, Bhat said that automation will act as a counter on the headcount addition front and accrue in some savings for the company as well.

Prior to this, the company’s headcount declined by 9,000 people in the year to December 31, 2020.

This was attributed to a decline in its Business Process Services (BPS) vertical.

High Utilization Reported

Further, Bhat mentioned that the operations will be run in an “optimized manner” going forward and the high utilization of 87 percent will also ease off.

Moving ahead, talking about the hikes he said that the company is planning to give a staggered hike over a period of a couple of quarters or more across its employee base.

By the end of the December quarter, the company reported an attrition level of 12 percent.

The Chief People Officer Harshvendra Soin said, “Despite the fact that people are going through a tough time, I think the organization responded to keep not only the employees engaged and happy, but also reached out to families and extended families and took care of them,” during the same call.

According to Bhat, there will be an uptick in both the March and June quarters in terms of business growth.
