Let’s learn about this in detail.

FIR Filed Against Meesho

A resident of Lucknow has filed an FIR against the  social commerce platform Meesho, for selling counterfeit products.

As per reports, the FIR was filed at Wazirganj police station in Lucknow on January 24.

The complainant reports that he placed an order for a Rolex watch and a GUCCI t-shirt from the platform on January 7, 2021, which he received on January 21, 2021.

However, the quality of the products received were dubious. In order to get assurance, the complainant took the product to multiple stores in the city and on confirmation that the products were in fact fake, he filed a complaint against the company.

In clarity, the FIR has been filed against Meesho’s founders. Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal, under Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal.

Meesho’s CFO Jatin Mazalcar responded to Entrackr that they are yet to be notified about the FIR.

FIR Filed Within A Week of PIL Against Meesho

A public interest litigation was filed against Meesho, GlowRoad and Shop101 in the Delhi High Court for not displaying names of manufacturers, country of origin and the MRP of products sold on their platforms.

Speaking of Meesho, the case is yet to be heard in the Delhi HC but it records absence of mandatory information, which gives rise to sale of fake products, on rise these days, on such platforms.
