The co-founder of OnePlus, who parted ways from the organization is now back in the tech world with what seems to be a new forward-thinking consumer technology company based in London, called “Nothing”.

Nothing describes itself as a “London based consumer technology company”. It has industry stalwarts like iPod inventor Tony Fadell, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, and many more as investors.

The organization plans to launch its smart devices in the first half of the year. However, neither the details of these devices which will be imminently launched is disclosed yet, nor is it clear which companies will it be taking head on as competitors due to lack of understanding of the product itself.

About “Nothing”:-

In October 2020, Pei left OnePlus, which he grew to 36 nations with cofounder Pete Lau. Pei was the man behind the positioning and marketing of OnePlus.

“Nothing” wants to inspire people to believe in the positive potential of technology again, and will set the pace starting in 2021.

To bring back the artistry, passion as well as trust to the field of consumer technology while seeking to remove the barriers between technology and people is the aim of the organization.

Pei said that “Nothing” firstly wants to start with simpler categories, and as their capabilities and expertise increases they venture into more categories, eventually delivering to its mission of a company which connects all devices in a seamless manner.

Pei also revealed that the organization would focus more on the hardware than software as a revenue stream. However, he admitted a healthy business requires both, hardware as well as software and maybe down the line, the company may venture into software as well.

Talking about consumer tech, Youtuber and Investor Casey Neistat said that it is a tidal wave of limitless potential.

Seed Funding:-

The company participated in a seed funding round and had Tony Fadell from iPod, Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, and YouTuber Casey Neistat, PCH Founder & CEO Liam Casey, Web Summit founder Paddy Cosgrave, Product Hunt CEO Josh Buckley and CRED CEO Kunal Shah as investors.

“Nothing” has launched 7 million $ in a seed funding round.
