Western Railways Will Run All 1367 Mumbai Local Trains From January 29; But General Public Not Allowed!

In a big development, Western Railways has announced that they will kick start 1367 local trains in Mumbai and surrounding suburbs from January 29th.

But dont rejoice yet.. Because general public won’t be allowed in these trains.

1367 Local Trains Will Start From January 29th

In a statement, Western Railways has announced that the special locals will be now expanded to all 1367 local trains, which was limited to only 1201 trains as of now.

The statement from Western Railways said, “Western Railway has decided to start all its suburban services by increasing existing 1,201 special services to 1,367 from Friday 29 January,”

Very soon, Central Railways too will add more local trains in their network.

Before the pandemic started, Central Railways operated more than 1580 local trains, which stopped from March 23rd, due to the lockdown.

From July 15th, Mumbai local trains were started, but entry was not allowed for all, till date.

But General Public Still Not Allowed

Although the local trains have now increased to 1367 from January 29th, the general public are still not allowed to board them.

As of now, only healthcare workers and those who are into the essential services are allowed to board local trains in Mumbai.

Specially-abled passengers, along with cancer patients are also allowed to travel via Mumbai local.

Women and children too have been allowed, but only during specially designated hours.

We have reported that Maharashtra Govt is considering to open the local trains for all, and a decision will be made soon. Maharashtra CM has already met with Railways officials and health dept officers to evaluate the situation.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
