5 Lakh Govt Employees Will Get Salary Hike With Arrears In This State; DA Hike Next For All Govt Employees?

According to reports, it is expected in January 2021 that the employees of central government are expected to to get 4% increase in dearness allowance.

This increase, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission is expected to be in accordance with the accepted formula. The Ministry of Finance had informed that in order to compensate for the price rise, there be will be an increase of 4% over the existing rate of 17% of the Basic Pay/Pension.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had approved to release an additional instalment of DA to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners with effect from January 1, 2020. The central government exchequer was expected to be impacted by nearly Rs 12,510 crore per annum (DA) and about Rs 14,595 crore (DR) in FY 2020-21 (for a period of 14 months from January, 2020 to February, 2021). This decision will benefit about 48.34 lakh Central Government employees and 65.26 lakh pensioners.

Keeping in mind the inflation and to offset it, DA relief is given. Dearness allowance is announced twice a year by central government. January to June is the period for first announcement

First announcement is done for the period of January to June while the second announcement is done for July to December period. The DA announcement for January to June period is awaited by the central government employees. At the same time, 4% DA restoration announced for July to December 2020 period is awaited.

Modi government, in the end week of December 2020, decided to extend “Disability Compensation” for all serving employees. This is when and if they get disabled in the line of duty while performing their service and are retained in service in spite of such disablement.

Since disability in performance of duties is generally reported in their case due to constraints of job requirement The order will particularly provide a huge relief to young Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel like  CRPF, BSF, CISF, etc.
