Tata Sky Triggers Broadband War With 1Gbps Speed, Unlimited Data! Jio, Airtel Should Worry?

The speed of new internet plans of Tata Sky Broadband is touching skies. The maximum speed offered by any ISP till now was 300 Mbps. But in an extensive upgrade, the Indian broadcast service provider is going to offer a speed of 1 Gbps.  No wonder why it is emerging to be one of the fastest-growing internet service providers.

However, the speed might be available only to some parts of the country. Keep reading to know if you will be able to avail this high-speed service.

Features

This 1 Gbps plan will be offered for uploading as well as downloading along with unlimited data. Tata sky’s unlimited data packages include 3.3 TB or 3,300 GB of data monthly.  After the consumption of the fair usage policy (FUP) data, users can still access the internet with a post-consumption speed of 3 Mbps.

Availability

The mega speed plan is not available for every Tata Sky user throughout the nation. As of now, only the users in the Wagholi area in Pune suburbs will be able to avail this plan along with other benefits. However, Tata Sky is planning to expand the reach of this plan very soon.

Price

There are 3 packages available with a speed of 1 Gbps. The cheapest package is priced at Rs 14,160 for 3 months. The next plan is valid for half a year and costs Rs 26,196. Whereas to subscribe to the yearly plan, the user will have to pay Rs 48,144. All these prices are inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Though there is no monthly package available at the moment, it might be available soon as the reach of the plan increases. Analysing the monthly plans, the user is paying Rs 4720, Rs 4366 and Rs 4012 per month in case of the 3, 6 and 12 months package respectively.  Hence we can estimate the price of the monthly package accordingly whenever it is introduced.

 Installation

The users will not have to pay any extra charges for installation services since the Wifi router will be provided for free. Unlike most of the ISPs, users will get a free landline service and there will be no requirement to pay any security deposit. Seems like Tata Sky has taken an extra effort to make installation convenient for its users.

Limitations

The one thing that is preventing Tata Sky from becoming India’s best broadband service provider is the lack of OTT benefits. Tata Sky still delivers content through a traditional cable where most of the other service providers have switched to OTT services.

Because of its credibility and affordable prices, Tata Sky will certainly give tough competition to JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber who offer the same 1 Gbps plan.
