Covid-19 Vaccine Will Be Free For All Indians? Here Is The Official Truth You Should Know

Seems like Dr. Harsh Vardhan became way too generous while giving assurance regarding the covid 19 vaccine distribution. The Union Health minister claimed that the vaccine is going to be free all across India. Soon after he went to Twitter to clarify his statement.

What Was The Clarification?

On Saturday Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan visited Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi to take a look at the coronavirus vaccination dry run drill. In a media interaction there, he was asked if the vaccine is going to be free in the national capital. He replied, “Not only in Delhi, but it will be free in the entire country”. A lot of videos of him giving the statement surfaced after that and got circulated widely.

Just when the hopes of Indians were touching the sky, the minister sought clarification. He tweeted,” In the 1st phase of Covid-19 Vaccination, a free vaccine shall be provided across the nation to most prioritized beneficiaries that include 1 crore healthcare and 2 crore frontline workers. Details of how further 27 crore priority beneficiaries are to be vaccinated until July are being finalized”.

How Are The Outcomes Of Dry Run?

Initially, the dry run for vaccination was conducted in four states (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Punjab) considering their geographical aspects to know the executability of the plans and to find the loopholes in the process so that they can be resolved before the actual vaccination. The practice sessions are being executed in all the states according to the new guidelines formed considering the feedback.

Speaking about it the health minister said, “Feedbacks received after the dry run in four states were included in guidelines for vaccination and today’s dry run in all states/UTs is being conducted as per new guidelines. Except for giving the actual vaccine, every procedure is being followed during the drill.”

The minister has also asked the citizens to believe in the process and not fall prey to any kind of rumors. “I appeal to people not to pay heed to the rumors. Ensuring the safety and efficacy of vaccines is our priority. Different kinds of rumors were spread during polio immunization but people took the vaccine and India is now polio-free,” he said.
