Mumbai Local All Set To Start From January?

Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation in Maharashtra, Vijay Wadettiwar has indicated that the Maharashtra Govt is all set to reopen Mumbai Local for the general public, from 1st week of January.

As per him, the State Govt has already allowed reopening of amusement parks and water parks, and Mumbai Local trains will be the next.

He said, “The decision on the local trains will be taken at the earliest. The chief minister’s attempt is to start the locals for the general public from the first week of January,”

Now, the impact of the new variant of Covid-19 discovered in the UK is the only main issue, which will determine the reopening of the Mumbai locals.

Thane’s New Light Metro Will Link 22 Stations

Meawhile, Thane Municipal Corporation has given the green signal to develop a new Light Metro Transit, which will run only within the Thane municipal area, and link internal areas of the district.

22 stations will be linked via this new metro project for Thane, and out of them, 2 will be under-ground.

The tender process of finalizing contractors will be floated soon.

An official from Thane Municipal Corporation said, “The proposal was put forth earlier this year, whereafter it was sanctioned on Wednesday by replacing the internal Metro project in Thane. The LRT project designed in circular form connects Thane railway stations and other new proposed stations connecting railway line. The tender process will be floated after monsoon this year,”
