Online ride sharing platform, Ola is now making its entry into the e-auto rickshaw segment. A patent for the same has been leaked now and all the details about Ola’s electrically powered auto rickshaw are here. 

Electrically powered vehicles are being promoted by the Government of India, and every automobile manufacturer has now introduced select models of two and four wheelers in the electric version. 

As per reports, this market is an opportunity of Rs. 50,000 crore in India by the year 2025. 

Ola E-Auto Rickshaw Patent Leaked

Ola electric is planning the launch of a new electric scooter in India by next year and is now all set to make an entry in the e-rickshaw segment in India. Auto rickshaws will reportedly be shifting to being electrically powered by as much as 40 percent over the next 4-5 years. 

Ola’s patent for the electric rickshaw has been leaked and it shows an image of the Ola electric three wheeler which is similar in proportion to the Mahindra Treo. 

For the e-auto rickshaw, Ola is targeting about 10,000 two and three wheeler electric vehicles and electric four wheelers which will be a part of the ride hailing business. 

As per reports, Ola plans to launch the e-auto rickshaw sometim in 2021 for the cab sector and ride sharing platforms in the country. 

As of now, Ola has cabs in multiple segments such as micro, mini, premium sedan, prime play and premium SUV, and LUX.

Ola E-Autorickshaw: How Does It Work?

As per reports, the new Ola e-rickshaws will get a lithium ion battery pack that will be free of maintenance. Ola also promises a hassle free ownership for the owners with a low maintenance costs and better comfort for the rider and passenger. 

It will come with a raked windshield which will also have wipers along with circular shaped headlamps, roof rails, and a flat roof. The solar panels will be accommodated on the flat roof. These solar panels will be able to charge the battery directly and will also increase the driving range of the vehicle.

For the passengers, there is a bench at the back which seems sufficient for three people. The driver’s area and the seat look quite spacious.
